This advanced course encompasses it all. We'll conquer challenging obstacles, walk through trip planning & bike prep, discuss which tools are must haves when stuck in the middle of nowhere, and how to handle breakdowns trailside. If you're a good rider with general mechanical skills, but want to take everything to the next level, this course is for you!

This is a scenario course. Our instructors will not only train on riding techniques to get through tough obstacles, but they'll also create situations that test your resourcefulness while out on trail. Be ready to be challenged!

Day One

Meet at the Grit Guest Ranch for 8am introductions and plan for the next 3 days. This first day will be focused on riding skills & technique to first make sure each rider is comfortable and confident tackling the obstacles most fear. We'll break for lunch, then get right back to it on our custom course, and the day will end around 4pm.

Day Two & Three

These 2 days will be spent mostly on the UT BDR, and will challenge your riding capability & savviness alike. We may not be able to create and walk through every challenge you may face while in the backcountry, but we'll focus on equipping you with creative problem solving and the small items you should always carry.

Things to Know

What’s Included

Riding fees & lunch are included within the base class price. If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know when submitting your registration form.

What’s not Included

Bike Rentals, riding gear, airfare, lodging, and dinners. But we can help you with all those things! Just let us know what you need and we’ll help you get there.

Required Riding Gear

Helmets, riding boots, and gloves are all required. And body armour is strongly recommended. If you have any questions on your gear, feel free to ask for recommendations.

Deposit & Cancellation Fees

We ride rain or shine, but understand life happens.

Cancel within 48 hours of purchase for a full refund. For cancellations up to 3 weeks prior to your class, a credit for a future class of equal value will be issued and available for 12 months from issued date. However, no refunds or credits will be given for cancellations within 3 weeks prior to the start of the class and/or ride.

If you are unable to complete a class or ride that you started due to physical or mechanical reasons, you may be issued a partial credit to attend a future class or event with 12 months.

If a class or tour is canceled due to weather or tragedy, participants will be given a credit towards equivalent class or ride of their choice on a future date.

Motorcycle Equipment

Knobby tires 50/50 are highly recommended.

High quality & strong hand guards to protect levers are recommended. We use and recommend HDB Ultimate Handguards.

Doubletake Mirrors help prevent damage to the expensive original parts.

Hard panniers are dangerous, heavy, and strongly discouraged during training. However soft luggage can remain on the bike.

If you’d like a bag to carry snacks & water in, a small backpack or camelbak is highly recommended. While learning body position through different drills, it’s most important to have the freedom to move around the bike as needed, so tank bags often get in the way.
